North Little Rock closes downtown Main Street for temporary outdoor dining in Argenta
NORTH LITTLE ROCK (Monday, August 10, 2020) – The Argenta Downtown Council (ADC) and the City of North Little Rock have begun the next phase of the Argenta Outdoor Dining District by closing Main Street for outdoor dining from 4th Street to 5th Street Fridays 6 p.m. until Saturdays at 10 p.m.
“The main purpose of closing the street is to give our downtown restaurants more space to socially distance customers,” said Chris Kent, ADC Executive Director. “We are working hard to create safe spaces for people to gather and enjoy all that Argenta has to offer.”
During the weekend street closure, Brood & Barley at 411 Main Street and Four Quarter Bar at 415 Main Street have tents and tables set up for customers to dine in front of their establishments. Rules are clearly posted about masks required, social distancing and claiming a table after placing an order at the restaurants. The Argenta Downtown Council also has tables and tents spread out on Main Street for any restaurant patrons on Main Street to use. The North Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau has also added seating at Argenta Plaza.
The next phase of the Argenta Outdoor Dining District will go into effect Saturday, August 15, with the closing of Main Street from Broadway to 4th Street on Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. 4th Street from Blake’s Furniture to Argenta Drug Store will also be closed to traffic during this time.
The Argenta Outdoor Dining District is in effect seven days a week, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The district includes Main Street from 8th Street to Broadway, 4th Street from Maple to Poplar, and Argenta Plaza. The Argenta Downtown Council, City of North Little Rock and the North Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau worked in tandem to get the ordinance passed as quickly as possible to assist businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
